Play, play games (Gala Pictures)

How an afternoon that started out like this:

Mad bitches taking booty pictures. This also really delayed us.
Turned into this...
Amber, Cesar Moreira, Kate Kabe (with slumber party hair), moi, Lesego, Ashton Carolissen and Lethabo Lengweng.
All of us at Amber's place in Sunnyside, having the time of our youths. Pretty much
the only picture I could post. Yes, that's right: major blur in the rest.

Cesar Moreira AKA Swagga Cee.

Lebogang Modisha, Itumeleng Shongwe, Bontle Makwhelo, Tshegofatso Maja and Mishka Devchand
This was at the gala in our Gladstone shirts (the house that is forgotten, quite often).

Lesego, Ashton and I.
We were such rebels, squatting down behind all the tallies and talking about Ashton's new obsesh with Cesar.
Giggles all round.

Lesego and Ashton
We're awesome hoboes, hey?

Mishka and I

The Buxton cheerleaders as Barbie dolls. They looked too adorable.

Happy Monday

Rumour Has It I'm the One You're Leaving Her For...

7th February 2012, last week Tuesday was probably the best 7th February ever. It was the day of PHSG's 2012 Interhouse Gala, whoop-whoop. But because I'm shit tired and super sick and with tons of homework to catch up on, I'll just summarize the night.
  • Kate Kabe, Lethabo Lengweng, Ashton Carolissen, Lesego, Amber and I went to Amber's house--well, apartment/flat really--in Sunnyside to change for the gala and chill. We took, like, forever to get there. Lethabo was really there to see Cesar Moreira, though (a friend from primary school and Pro Arte girl obsession).
  • Since we took forever to walk, spent who knows how long at the kiosk at the Sunnyside Swimming Pools [eating spathlos (not so sure about that spelling) and laughing at Cesar's wisecracks (which are of course 'you had to be there' jokes) and wasting time] we had to change super fast at Amber's across the street. With Cesar and his little protegee Little Daniel in the room.
  • Anyways, a thousand pictures later, Ashton and Cesar making out and running super fast in the rain we were at the gala.
  • That brings to the end of the gala, we talk to all our Boys' High friends and what not.
This doesn't even begin to tell you about all the mischief we got up to. But, righty-o, Wednesday I had apparently made out with Lutho. My friend Khumo's boyfriend. I don't play like that. I mean, I did that once but it was unintentionally and I seriously, seriously regret that. Worst part: I don't even like this Lutho character.
I don't even understand everyone's obsession with him. He dresses dodge, he walks in a dodgy manner and he's quite shifty.

Pictures to come.

Denim and Leopard

Great news: U-Party is on, and bru, everyone is going so it's going to be the bomb and I won't feel like such a social reject like I did when I didn't get to go to the Boys' High Gala and missed out on all the fun and six packs.

Love this dress by Olive de Olive (don't really know who or what that is) from Atomic Girl. Best R99 ever spent, friend. I'd love to pair it with studded ankle boots and sheer tights, it would look awesome in winter. Until then dear dress. There is still the question of what to wear on Friday for the party...

Throw Some Glitter On and Get A Bucket of Red Paint

Valentines @ St Mary's DSG with U-PARTY and Euphonik

Finally, they're here again. The U-Parties. The bestest and funnest under eighteen parties ever--so you know all the paedophiles are jealous!
Ahem: "U-PARTY helps schools and charities to fund raise by hosting under-18 socials at their premises. U-PARTY has developed these socials to such a degree that we can claim to be the most successful under 18 social production company in South Africa. Our reputation has been built on a solid foundation of providing the best entertainment to high school students in an environment that remains safe and secure. This is all thanks to various industry partners including ER24, Gemini DJ, Bhejane Events, AVIS, Universal Music, EMI Music, Puma, Optimus01 and Wharfedale Pro."
They can also claim to be the most successful under 18 social production company because there really aren't any other besides Pandemonium which is a lot more white people oriented and very disgustingly The Bowling Club situated.
I really wanna go to the Valentine's one (as advertised above) at St. Mary's Diocesan School for Girls (DSG, the school my father really wants me to consider which is bull crap because the fees there are fucking insane and private school's for stuck-up pricks--total fuckery) because U-Parties are AWESOME!
Like, for realsies. They're the bomb and they always have an unlimited supply of Red Bull which is like [legal] kid alcohol! Well, except for Smirnoff and Brutal Fruit, I guess but then again that isn't so legal. What? You've never seen my peers at The Bowling Club knocking back bottles like it's going out of style.
Back on topic, for the past week everyone has been gettin' all hyped up about this party. Probably because it is the first one of the year in Pretoria and it's gonna be awesome and we all need to distress first month of school aches and jitters. Don't we deserve to? We've kept up our lame New Year's Resolutions long enough (but mine was really, really, really easy: no orange clothing because I'm totally above the lame-osity of New Year's Resolutions).
Heh, the way I'm getting so hyped up for this, though. You'd think I go to these things, like, all the time. Oh my gawd-uh! But, really I've only ever been to one; The Mt. Edmund Christian Brother's College U-Party with Black Coffee who's like an insane in the membrane DJ, my friend. CBC had it right!

Look at all the fun we had then:

That girl (bottom row, centre picture) practically heaving herself onto the stage is a true testament to the fact that U-Parties are awesome! And if you look really closely in that final picture you can see me getting totally drowned in gyrating bodies trying to get to my mom before she got on stage and called me out with a microphone. Parents actually do that, mine are no exception. Best night ever, even the serious Red Bull hangover I had wreaked of epictude.

And the DSG one is with Euphonik! What-what! Listen to me getting all excited about a house DJ I've hardly ever listened to. Uh, ja, meneer! Now to calm the fuck down, drink some freaky pineapple juice, put on actual pants (don't ask) and kick Jason and Brandon outta my house! Before it rains and they're forced to stay.

Later (and frikkin' wish me luck on getting my dad to take me to a party that ends at 23h00)

I Guess Amber Heard?

My awesome new platforms from Rage. First time I've ever spent more than R200 on shoes.

Aqeelah Harron in London. She's far too pretty.

Chanok S (check her out). Pretty girl with an amazing sense of style.

Love Me and I Won't Love You

White Mickey Mouse shirt, Mr Price; black high waisted RT shorts, Mr Price; black low tops, Mr Price;
large silver bangle, Truworths; assorted bangles, Identity and octagonal sunglasses.

Last year, I was "pretty" obsessed with my really hot neighbour, Jason. He's really tall and laughs at all of my jokes (though... why wouldn't anyone?) and he was something new. Especially because at that time I'd pretty much been going through a dry spell and that was mucho unenjoyable. And how awesome would it be if I dated someone who was universally attractive and photogenic? Mucho awesome.
But a month or so later when I did actually get action and it wasn't from Jason I pretty much accepted that after five weeks nothing was happening and decided we'd be better friends. Now without my rose coloured glasses (the ones we see all our crushes in perfect light in) I noticed Jason really wasn't my type. Hotness will get you so far and I'm not the Friends With Benefits type anyway (it's for those too lazy to look for the real thing... if there is a real thing).
He wanted to be a rapper and if I have to meet another black boy who wants to be rapper like Lil' Wayne or some ish like that I am going to suffer at Menlyn every Friday. And that place is damn ass ghetto with The Glen High students on Fridays. And there's really nothing like getting hit on by a grade eight with a yellow Afro-wish.
Anyway, we hang out sometimes when he comes over to play PlayStation with my brother and Brandon And Co (don't ask). Lesego is crazy obsessed with him, though. Not that he'd date her and her mahuna-hunas (big boobs) what with them being two hours apart and they're both kind of players. [Unintentionally, of course. Having had been played three times last year, I really wouldn't befriend one. Lesego and Jason are the kind that wanna be all committal but easily bored people. Both attractive hummingbirds, hopping from tulip to orchid to Marigold and pussy willow (pun intended).]
Now I'm beginning to believe in that New Age Universe Stuff because last week I hugged Jason goodbye for an obscenely long amount of time and was way too touchy-feely with him that day, mistruthed to Amber and Lesego that we almost kissed (which we didn't but we could've). Why did I not tell the truth? Beee-cuuz, they had awesome stories from the gala and I had zilch, nothing, zeh-ro! But that's beside the point, so I had this exaggeration (see how I beat around the word "lie") hanging up all high in the Universe and it came back to bite me or ish like that. It was karma... I think.
It's been a while since I crushed on Jason which was pretty much only because he was attractive without the attractive qualities I require. And today he was in my bedroom. Like, the place where I had price tags from this morning's shopping excursion strewn all over my messy bed, shoes and plastic bags on the floor and various receipts on my jewellery box and my bras were all over the place. But I was all nonchalant about it when he was all, "I've never seen inside your room."
  "Oh, really? Whatevs." I replied.
When I talk to Jason there are some awkward silences because he's pretty soft spoken, I'm loud and talkative but hate having to hear only my side of the conversation. I kept myself busy with attempting to clean the usually chaos that was my bed. And then it happened.
I said, "Why you so quiet?"
"Me?" Jason asked. As if there was anyone else in the room.
  "Uh, ja."
"Oh, I was just thinking if maybe I should tell you something that I've wanted to say for a long time."
And, like, I'm not an idiot. I knew. That was the moment I would have loved before but right then it was fucking scary. Scarier than Hallie Berry's toes, man. What did I do?
I ignored it, as though I didn't hear him. I retreated to my computer and didn't give him a second look. Why now? Like, why now? Especially now when I'm hormonal, PMSing, bleeding my panties off and desperately single but horribly picky? I'd hate to think of what would've happened if he did ask me out...
But I feel really sad... for him.

Obsession Tuesday

This is probably really open-ended as I obsess over many, many things. People, shoes, fashion, funky telephones, books, the moon's orbit around the Earth, pink versus purple, cereal, yogurt and grapes. But this Tuesday I've decided to simplify all my craziness into my top four obsessions of the week.
  1. Reruns of FRIENDS on Sony Entertainment Television. Even if it is a little dated and half of the time I am staring at Jennifer Aniston's hair and the retro clothes they wore in the 90's it's a show you can't grow up without having had watched. If you didn't then you're really lame. Seriously.
  2. Vintage Chuck Taylor's in black. The original All Star. I've searched countless online stores--eBay, Bid or Buy, Gumtree, Online Shopping S.A, Sports Scene (who declare themselves the kings of sneaker wear. I think not since I didn't find the sneakers!) and countless others.
God, I have too much free time and a love for cool shoes. :)

Aqeelah Harron aka Fashion Breed (http://www.fashionbreed.org/)
I just discovered her in the February issue of Glamour, she's joining their Style Tribe. I love this girl to the death of me. Serious girl crush developing here. She's exactly what I aspire to be in the S.A. fashion industry. She's only 21, fresh out of University of Cape Town (my dream school) and already an up and coming vintage clothing seller, stylist, blogger and fashionista in S.A. And a wardrobe to kill!

P.S A pic of my two besties, Amber Welkom and Lesego Lesetedi at Amber's place in Sunnyside having pre-party prep without me. :( It's okay, I didn't wanna go to that gala anyway.

P.P.S OK, I lied. Only three obsessions this week but Aqeelah is so awesome that she makes it four. So... uh... lie terminated? Yeah, lie terminated!

Need To Know

For my mom, the 16th of April 1998 was a really stressful morning. What with her being in labour over six hours prior to 3:35 a.m. and all. But as the nurse announced, “it’s a girl,” there was a slight glimmer of disappointment in her eyes. For the past three months she and my father had bought boy’s corduroys, cute little truck sweaters and ugly, dude sandals. As you can see, they’d been expecting a boy.
Moral of the story: things don’t always turn out they way you want.
But that is life, it’s like a lime green, double-breasted suit–really hard to get your head around (seriously, why would you even consider that?). And that’s me. I could never be summed up into 140 characters or less. I hardly ever turn out the way you want (unless that’s totally awesome!).
Hey, I’m Khensani. I tend to respire, sleep, eat and inspire. I spend an unhealthy amount of time watching Ben 10 and Courage the Cowardly Dog, threaten people way too often with spoons and dance terrifically (bad) in front my bedroom mirror. I also am super social, smarter than I give myself credit for and have way too much free time on most Sundays. I can be a very sour taste yet you’ll still love me. That’s just how it goes, babe.
xoxo Khenzo Natalia (I have many names)
