We Running This Town Just Like a Club Part I

Oh my God, it's Wednesday. Where have the days gone? One minute I'm chilling on Lesego's front lawn with Titus, Tumi and Company talking about who knows what, then getting violated by Lesego's 7 year old brother (he touched my boobies!) and now it's flipping Wednesday and we're two days closer to visiting Menlyn Park once again. So, I've totally lost track of time.

Anways, Lesego's birthday was too fun and I was totally delaying talking about what happened. Well, typing really because I've been blabbing my mouth off about almost meeting Edward Scissorhands and getting gauged by an axe murderer.
It was all really crazy. Friday night we prank called, spent the whole time making jokes and adding random Spanish words into all our sentences and I got crazy high on marshmallows (no that is not code for some hip new drug, I'm talking actual marshies), woke up to Trace blasting all over the house Saturday morning. Lesego's plan for that day was to go to Menlyn and have fun. Uno problemo (besides the fact that we were going to Menlyn which was ghetto as hell): we didn't have transport. Lesego's mom had left that morning for work and her sister was nowhere to be found.
Amber and I were left with the madhouse full of little kids while Lesego scoured Orchards for a ride in the blistering heat. We had to make, like, a hundred pancakes that were more flapjacks though. After what felt like hours later Lesego comes back with Imani (Lesego's boyfriend who's pretty rich... just saying), Titus and Kele, demands we bathe as she'd gotten us a ride from Kelly's brother for the "wee" fee of R20.
Kelly comes to pick us up and her brother drives like a total maniac, Kele doesn't join us as she was going to the Masquerade Ball which she later reported wasn't really worth it. The car we were in was pretty small so I sat on Titus's lap, Kelly sat on Amber, Lesego sat on Imani (very begrudgingly... another story for another day) and Kelly's friend Rea sat up front. We sang along to Adele for the duration of the long drive from Orchards to Menlyn Park. Which is pretty long.
We get to Menlyn where we ditch the guys at Galaxy World to go greet Ashton's dad which was extremely awkward. Like, broer, I die. They'd been waiting there since half one and we got there at twenty-five to three. Yikes!
We had the worst time finding a restaurant that could accommodate fifteen kids (that was Lesego, Amber, Kelly, Rea, Titus, Imani, Bontle, Bontle's friend Mello (?), Lihle, Lethabo, Neo, the twins Tamika and Thandana and I) but we got the dude at Mimmo's to reluctantly let us in. But, like, what other choice did he have? The place was empty and Spur was way too full.
Eventually we got Mimmo's (which was like kak empty, by the way) to allow us in. They were reluctant because a) we're a group of ghetto kids and b) we're fuckin' loud. And they were right not to want us in, since most of us were broke and ordered drinks (I had Titus buy me a Coke), made a noise and were a general nuisance. Don't you just love us? Anyway, I spent most of the time at Mimmo's sandwiched between Titus and Imani and a helluva good time laughing. Lesego ignored everyone else to hang with her cousins. Amber, Lihle, Bontle and such and such were on the other half of the table chatting up a storm, hardly keeping one topic for long.
Lesego leaves to go off somewhere with her cousins and when she comes back as her pizza arrive she's starts crying into the cheese. Sad thing was she looked so cute when her lip started trembling and then everyone surrounded her, asking why she was crying. I made a joke about shoes and she dived into her pizza. She cheered up eventually. That was when we payed a very complicated bill and left.
Everyone went off into separate groups. Amber, Lihle, Kelly, Rea, Bontle and Co., went walking around. Imani, Titus and I went after Lesego and her cousins who were at CNA or something. We saw Cesar on the way who apparently was in a repeat outfit. Like, some girl shouted, "Ay! Swagga Cee weren't you wearing that yesterday?" Embarrasante, much?

Later on, Imani, Lesego, Titus and I went off on our own. We noticed these service entries/fire escapes that only Menlyn employees go through and we decided to get our Dora on and explore. This is where Edward Scissorhands comes in. It is mucho creepy inside these "tunnels."
Insert audience screaming: "Don't go in there! Don't go in there! Dumb shits!"
They're long corridors with brick walls or concrete slabs and flickering lamps along the sides and a haunting silence. Lesego and I were piss scared so we walking behind Imani and Titus. Titus was the first one around the corners and would scream, so we'd scream and then he'd laugh and Lesego would scowl. We went into an elevator that smelled like weed and one that smelled like urine. We went up some creepy stairs to who knows where but Lesego and I decided against because there would be no way we'd get away from the serial killer on stairs.
Then Imani and Lesego needed a moment to, you know, make-out. So in front of one of the neutral smelling elevators they got it one. So Titus and I went around the corner to wait. And he was all, "What do you wanna do?"
"I don't know." I fiddled with hem of his shirt, leaning against the wall.
He then proceeded to move in closer. "I wanna do what they're doing."
So... um... yeah, that happened. And it was pretty awesome. Gosh, the way I'm probably blushing right now. Though, um, we're not dating.
  Yet. :)

The only reason school isn't such a drag

Hanging out on the notorious seventh floor of Menlyn Park.
Everyone hangs out there but Saturday was the first I'd seen of it.
No one should leave their trolleys unguarded!
All the photos are courtesy of Blackberry cameras which make editing quite hard. Sigh.

Need To Know

For my mom, the 16th of April 1998 was a really stressful morning. What with her being in labour over six hours prior to 3:35 a.m. and all. But as the nurse announced, “it’s a girl,” there was a slight glimmer of disappointment in her eyes. For the past three months she and my father had bought boy’s corduroys, cute little truck sweaters and ugly, dude sandals. As you can see, they’d been expecting a boy.
Moral of the story: things don’t always turn out they way you want.
But that is life, it’s like a lime green, double-breasted suit–really hard to get your head around (seriously, why would you even consider that?). And that’s me. I could never be summed up into 140 characters or less. I hardly ever turn out the way you want (unless that’s totally awesome!).
Hey, I’m Khensani. I tend to respire, sleep, eat and inspire. I spend an unhealthy amount of time watching Ben 10 and Courage the Cowardly Dog, threaten people way too often with spoons and dance terrifically (bad) in front my bedroom mirror. I also am super social, smarter than I give myself credit for and have way too much free time on most Sundays. I can be a very sour taste yet you’ll still love me. That’s just how it goes, babe.
